Japan Festival in Box Hill

Japan Festival

When: Sunday 21st of May, 10am-5pm              Where:  Box Hill Town Hall & Box Hill TAFE, Whitehorse Rd, Box Hill

Organised by the Japan Club of Victoria, Japan Festival aims to promote cultural exchange between Australia and Japan. The event will feature exciting cultural performances such as taiko-drumming, traditional dance, koto and shamisen; and martial arts demonstrations including kendo and karate. Over 110 stall holders are expected to attend, selling Japanese festival food, ceramics, toys, snacks and more.

Australia’s #1 Japanese pop-culture convention will be celebrating its 11th annual convention. The event features plenty of cosplay, gaming, animation and musical entertainment as well as guest panels, screenings, exhibitions, workshops and competitions.

Matsuri in Sydney

Matsuri in Sydney, Australia

When: Saturday 9th of December                 Where:  Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour

Where better to experience a preview of authentic Japanese culture than at a traditional Japanese summer festival (matsuri). This year the Matsuri held in Sydney’s Darling Harbour is even more special than usual, as it celebrates the 40th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Australia. With food stalls, a beer garden, traditional workshops, and performances, the Matsuri is an unmissable insight into the endless discoveries awaiting you in Japan.
