Insider Tip #21: Hanami (cherry blossom-viewing) Part II
If you missed Part I, check the Japan Agent Update from March 2016 in the Agent Update archives on our website.

If you are ready to plan your hanami party, you will need a few things: A tarp, picnic mat, or straw mat to lay on the ground; disposable cups, plates, and eating utensils; garbage bags to dispose of the rubbish; and, of course, snacks! You can get all of these things at 100-yen stores, convenience stores, or supermarkets, in addition to novelty goods stores like Don Quixote.

The "best" place to enjoy hanami depends on how crowded you like your surroundings. Most major parks will be well filled out with sakura trees and thus are usually popular places to enjoy hanami. For some slightly lesser-known spots that should be a bit quieter, check out these articles on JNTO HQ's page on spots in Nara and Kyoto, and for a list that includes some of the more iconic spots, see this article.
