Tsubamesanjo in Niigata Prefecture is blessed with an abundance of beautiful nature.

Mt. Kugami (Kugamiyama), located a 30-min drive from the Tsubamesanjo Shinkansen station, is worth visiting to gaze at the peaceful landscape. Go on a hike and breathe in the refreshing mountain air! The views from the top of the mountain of the Sea of Japan, Ohkozu Diversion Channel and Echigo Plain are a sight to see! There are also historical shrines and temples dotted around the mountain.

Over 200 years ago, a famous Zen monk Ryokan spent 20 years of his life at the Kugami Kokujo-ji Temple.

In early summer, you may be able to see a reflection of Mt. Kugami in ride paddies. After strolling, take a relaxing soak in an onsen (hot-spring) or dip your feet into a footbath.
